City of Markham Council is currently reviewing the 2018 Budget. As part of the discussion, staff were asked to present to Council a plan to offset the Impacts of Provincial Legislation - Bill 148, Fair Workplaces, Better Job Act – related to changes to part-time employment including significant increases to the Minimum Wage.

As requested, staff presented a plan which outlined user fee increases to offset the impact to the City of Bill 148 totaling $2.5M.

The user fee increases were approved at a Special Council meeting held on Monday November 6, 2017 in advance of the final budget approval.
